Top 5 Goals in Life
1. To live presently
Many people spend too much time think about what happened yesterday or what is going to happen tomorrow. Letting go of the past and not anticipating the future are both essential parts of living in the now. Living intentionally entails being mindful that every minute you spend is special. It can be hard to live in the present, I feel like most people have been taught to look back at different events and think about things that could be changed but also look to the future and know what you want in life like your career.
Things that I’m doing to get out of this cycle is:
Practicing acceptance: You cannot dictate everything that occurs around you; occasionally, life will not go according to your plans but that is what makes life exciting and helps you grow.
Get Regular exercise: As it unites your mind
and body, taking a walk in the park can help you stay more attentive to your current tasks. It's really calming to take deep breaths and enjoy the smell of the fresh air while out for a stroll.
2. To be happy with my dream (Husband, kids, house, and I job that I love)
Even though I want to live in the present I still have dreams for the future. I can’t wait to get married because I see a marriage is a commitment made with joy by two hearts. A pledge to be kind, helpful, and equal. The next part of my dream is to have kids, this is because I can’t wait to help my kids grow and make sure that they know I will be there for them no matter what and put a roof over my family’s head where everyone has their own space. I’m also looking forward to getting my dream job in the business sector maybe being a HR manager or be a legal advisor.
3. Travel as often as I can
This is a new goal I have added before lockdown I never thought about this but since then I’m appreciative of travelling and getting to see more of the world. Another reason why this is one of my goals is my boyfriend. He enjoys travelling, hiking and seeing historic buildings. I’ve had the best 2 years - I’ve been to Stirling, Edinburgh, Largs, Italy and I’m about to go to Inverness. I can’t wait for many more adventures like maybe going to Glastonbury next year.
I just want to go anywhere and everywhere life takes me and not miss out on so many opportunities.
4. Develop my mind set into optimism and positivity
I’ve recently realised that this is a big goal of my mine as I have the tendency to be negative towards myself. This is important to me because then I would have a far
healthier coping mechanism for handling stress and challenging situations. Every time I overcame a stressful situation that would just help me grow so I could tackle even more difficult problems. Working on this would also mean I will be quicker to bounce back from setbacks instead of feeling overloaded and disheartened by bad things that happen.
Things I am doing to help work on my mind set is
Keeping a note of positive memories- this year I made a jar that everyday I put a positive thing that has happened so even on the bad days there is also a positive memory
Begin every day with a good attitude- Having an uplifting morning can change your mind set for the day. I sometime tell myself that I’m going to have a good day and that I am beautiful, and put on a positive playlist to dance around to in the morning
5. Work on my confidence for public talking and getting to know new people
I can get quite nervous and shy when having to do presentations in front of people, and I also struggle starting the conversation with new people. This is something I want to work on because it will help me to connect, shape decisions, and inspire progress which will be important in the career field I want to be in.
A way that is helping me overcome this is Practice everything—your transitions, gestures, and body language—while standing up and speaking aloud as if you were giving a presentation to an audience. When I'm ready, I practice in front of people and ask for their opinion.
My anxiety stops me from starting the conversation but a way that I am changing this is, when I’m in a room of people, I greet them with a smile and that immediately breaks the ice. Another way I get over my fear is, if something makes me nervous, then it is outside of my comfort zone, meaning if I do it, I’ll grow as a person.
