Top 6 Films

1. Legally Blonde

Plot: Elle Woods has everything. Nothing would make her happier than to become Mrs. Warner Huntington III. She is too blonde, though, which is what keeps him from popping

the question. Elle gathers all her resources and enrols at Harvard with the aim of getting him back.

I have watched us film more than I can count. I'm all about girl empowerment which this film displays. The protagonist continues to serve as a symbol for defying expectations and supporting female empowerment in the face of sexism. When I was young, I understood what the film was about but growing up and truly knowing what it is like being a woman has made my love for this film stronger. The final court scene is one of the best scenes in the entire film ending it on a high as after old hardship and prejudices, she embraces her blonde stereotypes which aids her.

P.S. I can still quote this entire final scene.

2. Iron Man trilogy

Plot: Tony Stark, a talented inventor and millionaire businessman, gets kidnapped by terrorists while performing weapons experiments. They demand that he create a lethal weapon. As an alternative, he forges an armoured suit and overthrows his captors. When Stark returns to America, he improves the armour and utilises it to prevent terrorist attacks and corruption.

I didn't watch marvel growing up I only started watching marvel at the start of 2021. My boyfriend wanted to show me it, but I wasn't too sure how I'd feel because I had never really watched action/superhero action. As soon as I saw the first Iron Man I fell in love because he experienced a dramatic event but that helped him realise what he had to change, and he actually acted on it. As a character, he wants to try and do what is best for the world and the ones he loves as it would go over his past mistakes he made. So, I love the MCU as a whole but the Iron Man franchise and character will always be No.1

3. Godfather Part II

Plot: The "Godfather" sequel is an intriguing comparison of the lives of the Corleone father and son. Examining the issues facing Vito Corleone, a new immigrant in Hell's Kitchen in 1917, and Michael Corleone in 1958. Vito overcomes numerous setbacks and leads Michael to a criminal lifestyle.

I had never been into mafia films until again my boyfriend wanted me to try and watch them. At first seeing the length of that type of film put me off it, but you get so lost and the story I forget it's three hours long. I would say it was better than the first one because the editing of the new and old never got confusing but made the film more enticing as the progression is smooth, as are the comparisons between the old and new. You also have much more of an insight with the second film because while the first one is primarily focused on the conflict between the Corleone’s and the five families, the second one adds the narratives of the many eras of the country.

4. Knives Out

Plot: Every member of the extremely dysfunctional Thrombey family is a culprit, according to respected detective Benoit Blanc, despite the fact that the details involved in the murder of crime writer Harlan Thrombey are unknown. To find the truth, Blanc must now navigate across a network of lies and deception.

I love mystery films because I can try and work out who committed the crime and just when you think you've figured out a curveball get thrown at you. That is how this film is excellent. Even though if I was filled with plot twists, it's so easy to follow. When the audience feels intelligent and that they could've uncovered the riddle themselves, and that is what creates a successful mystery. The cast of this film is fantastic with names such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Daniel Craig, and Chris Evans. All actors get a powerful performance you can tell that through as it is hard to pinpoint the killer due to all characters had motives which makes it even better.

5. 13 going on 30

Plot: A girl who is tired of the social expectations of school is suddenly changed into an adult. Jenna, a teenager, dreams about growing up to be a happy adult because she wants a boyfriend but can't seem to find one. Her deepest dream is suddenly fulfilled. But becoming a grownup is harder than it seems.

I used to always say I cannot wait to grow up, but this film showed me not to wish my life away because all your childhood, teenage and 20’s years make you the person you are. Without all the experiences you go through when growing up, you are just a child in an adult’s body not being about to strive later in life because you haven’t developed. So now when I say I can’t wait until I’ve married and had my first child, I remember this film which brings me back to live in the present. The film has messages about popularity, compassion, personal values, and having integrity which are delivered with insight and humour. It’s a great heart-warming film.

6. Ferris Bueller’s day off

Plot: It's no secret that Ferris Bueller can skip school and get away with it. Ferris phones in sick, "borrows" a Car, and sets out on a one-day adventure around Chicago with the intention of pulling one final fast one before graduating. Principal Rooney is after Ferris because he tries to catch him in the activity.

Ferris Bueller’s day off is a classic film and a huge comfort film for me. it's just a happy carefree film about being a team without responsibilities making the most of a sack day off school. I watched it growing up and continue to do so. The two main characters of Ferris and Cameron are a great clash as Ferris is a laid back confident and Cameron is a nervous and up tight. But together create comedic moments. A great thing about this film is that it is simple, most people have thought about skipping school, so it is relatable.
