About Me

1. Where am I from?

I am from Glasgow, Scotland.

2. What are my passions?

I have many passions in my life, and I'm always gaining more. One of my passions is travelling. This wasn't a big one until about three years ago, when I started going on trips with my boyfriend to Stirling and abroad to Milan. In the past year and a half, my love for travelling has grown even more. Since I got a car, my boyfriend and I now have the opportunity to travel all around Scotland, which has helped me appreciate my home country so much more.

Another passion of mine is self-improvement. This became important to me over a year ago because it's a beautiful thing to work on yourself and know what you can do to make your life happier and brighter. I believe it makes you stronger as it's hard for me to admit what I was doing wrong in my life. One thing that I worked on was thinking before acting – I always used to act first then regret what I had done, but now I’m so proud of myself to have the strength to stop and respond accordingly without regret. This isn’t easy, and it comes with time, but anytime I go to act, I take a second to breathe, and in that second, I realise what the right thing to do is.

3. What do I do for a living?

I am a full-time student at Strathclyde University, studying Human Resource Management & Business Analysis and Technology. I am also currently working in retail part-time until I graduate.

After I graduate, I’m looking to work in human resources. I hope to help everyone I meet and work my way up to a human resources manager or a chief HR officer, but I won’t get too ahead of myself. I’ll just take one step at a time and see where life takes me.

4. What do I do in my spare time?

In my spare time, I like to go on adventures with my boyfriend through Scotland.

We drive up and explore places we’ve never been before like Tinto Hill, the Birks of Aberfeldy, and Loch Awe, just to name a few. It lets us be together without distractions – to be in nature, with the fresh air, enjoying each other’s company. I also love the drives there, whether we’re laughing along to the Off Menu podcast or singing and dancing to our favourite songs.

Another thing I like to do in my spare time is to dance and sing in my room like no one is watching. I’ve done this since I was a wee girl, and I don’t see why I should stop now. It is so much fun just forgetting about everything for a bit.

5. What is this blog for? & why did I start it?

This blog is for people who need advice or guidance at any point in their life. People can contact me via the website (anonymously), social media or email for any topics they would like discussed on the page. I started this blog as an outlet for myself to get my feelings out instead of feeling trapped. This is because, if you keep your feelings in, eventually you’ll explode with emotion (which I’ve done plenty of times) which isn’t good for you or your loved ones. For someone who doesn't want to offload their emotions onto someone else, this was the perfect idea.

6. What is my favourite post I’ve written?

This is a hard question since I love every post I write, and a lot of them are personal to me. I think my favourite one would have to be ‘Top 5 Song Lyrics That Resonate With Me & Why’. I love this post because it was personal to me, but also so much fun to write since it incorporated music. This post helped heal me mentally because I was too anxious to say what I felt out loud – it gave me the perfect opportunity to express myself without feeling judged. I will definitely do a ‘Part 2’ of this post since it has been over a year, and there are plenty more lyrics that resonate with me. If you have a chance, I would absolutely check it out.

7. What kind of music do I like?

For years, I only listened to pop and musicals. However, I'm happy to say I listen to far more now. I listen to hip hop, jazz, soul and country, among other genres.

I still listen to pop and musicals, but my taste is far more versatile than it once was. I have my boyfriend to thank for that. I fell in love with music more than I ever thought I would once I started dating my boyfriend. I love dancing in the car, talking about artists, and having the best time seeing our favourite musicians live. My three favourite genres are pop, hip hop and soul. Some artists I love from each of the genres are;

Pop = Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift

Hip-Hop = De La Soul, 2Pac and Biggie Smalls

Soul = Stevie Wonder, Sade, and D’Angelo

. What is my favourite place I’ve been?

My favourite places I’ve been are anywhere up the north of Scotland – it is just so peaceful. One of the most memorable places we visited was Loch Awe.

It’s a two-hour drive from Glasgow up to a castle, surrounded by farmland with highland cows, as well as a beautiful loch. Our most recent trip was to Glen Etive, a valley in the Scottish Highlands. This place was so calming and just what I needed before going back to university the following week. I dipped my feet in the water and listened to the nature around me. Another location I love is the Birks of Aberfeldy. This was another two-hour drive, but the journey was amazing since the road wound between massive hills, with birds of prey flying above us. Once we arrived, it was an hour and a half walk around a beautiful waterfall/river. The climb was intense, we had to take a few breaks, but that is my favourite place I’ve been up north.

9. Do I have any goals in life?

Some goals in my life are:

  • Have an amazing life with my boyfriend (Evan)

I say that's because I have met the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. He makes me the happiest woman ever and I can’t wait to keep growing together and share a house, have kids but that will come with time. He always supports me in everything I do and picks me up when I feel like everything is falling apart. I'm looking forward to all the milestones in our life, such as graduating together, getting our first flat, getting jobs in our desired sectors, getting engaged, married, and so on.

  • Always improving myself and being optimistic

I don’t want to settle in my ways; I want to grow with the world around me. I enjoy trying something new every once in a while, and maybe one of those things will stick like writing this blog. I am so happy that a way I started to improve myself personally is by going to the gym. It gives me the opportunity to forget about everything – I focus on the music and feel my body getting stronger, which relieves me of stress every time. Last year, to become more optimistic, I wrote down one good thing that happened to me every day. Even though I haven’t kept it up this year, it helped me change my mindset to always focus on the positives.

10. What is a piece of advice I think everyone should follow?

A piece of advice I think should be important to everyone is to put yourself first and push the opinions of others to the back. I used to live based on what others wanted to do and what they thought of me. I never realised I did this until I changed my mindset – I started fighting against that voice in my head to follow the crowd. I started making my own choices about what I wore; who my friends were; how I was going to live my life; what I would eat; going to the gym; and even starting this blog. The voice never goes away completely, but once you try to block it out life becomes more freeing. It’s important to know that other people’s opinions don’t define you.

Things that I did to put myself first were;

  1. Focussing on what makes you happy rather than what others would approve of will lead to a more fulfilling life. This totally changed my mindset. I could feel my face change so fast; I realised that this is my life, and I should make the most of every single second I have on this earth.

  2. If the people in your life don’t make you feel appreciated, then you don’t need them. Find your people who love you for you. Someone who respects you and helps you grow as a person.

  3. Work on your self-confidence. One way I do this is to set goals for myself, either for the day or week, like sending emails to people, going for a walk, reading a book or sticking to my gym schedule. Proving to myself that I can do what I want really boosts my self-confidence. Also, wearing the clothes I love shows the kind of person I am on the outside as well as the inside, building my confidence and making my days a lot happier.
