Top 3 Video Games I’ve Played
1. Spider-Man
This is an action-adventure that follows the life of Peter Parker, who is the superhero Spider-Man. This is the only game that I have actually been excited about, impatiently waiting for the next entry in the franchise like Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. I think I got so engaged in the game because the storyline was fun to follow, along with trying to figure out different mysteries during the game. I found it quite cool being able to play as different characters like MJ and Miles, and found some of their missions far more strategic. It was also amazing to fight against the enemies that I've seen in films, cartoons, and TV shows throughout the years.
I wanted to start playing Spider-Man after my boyfriend showed me the Marvel film franchise. I fell in love with the various storylines and characters, and knew I would love playing along in that world. It became my comfort game, getting lost in the plot for hours. Sometimes, when I'm stressed, I just swing around the city because the graphics are so detailed and enthralling; it's fun in and of itself just to see New York City and the landmarks in the films, like the Avengers Tower and the Sanctum Sanatorium.
I have already played the Miles Morales game and I am currently playing Spider-Man 2
2. Smash Bros.
This is a fighting game where you can battle as characters from all different franchises, from Sonic the Hedgehog to Persona 5. I always play Smash with my friends, which is always a great way to relax after a stressful day. I am not the best at it, and most times I'm the first player to get knocked out, but when I win the odd game, I get so happy. It's so exciting getting to play so many characters, figuring out their various moves and powers. I still have dozens of characters to unlock through the story mode, but right now, I’m stuck and can’t get past a certain battle.
During the pandemic, I played a lot of games online with my friends. However, this is the only one I continue to play, all these years later. It is a nice time to catch up with friends, even if I am usually in last place by the end of each battle. Half the time it's by my own accord, falling off the arena or forgetting which fighter I am.
3. Dead By Daylight
Dead by Daylight is a mix between a horror and a thriller. As someone who is easily scared by the slightest thing, this game always had me screaming and my heart racing. So, in retrospect, I should stop because I either can’t sit still on my bed or scream while I get chased by a psycho killer. One thing that always terrifies me is that, when you play as a survivor and the killer is nearby, a heartbeat starts playing, getting faster and louder as the killer gets closer. At this point, I start looking around like a panicked freak. That’s why I would much rather play the killer, because then there is nothing to be scared of, as I’m the one chasing my friends.
Another aspect I enjoyed was picking my perks – a list of different abilities to make it easier to outrun the killer or chase down the survivors. My favourite perk as a survivor is ‘Bond’, because it lets you see other survivors in a certain radius. This helped calm my nerves because, if the killer found another survivor near me, then I could see and run farrrrr awayyyyy. A perk I love as the killer is ‘Barbeque and chilli’. This perk lets you see all the other survivors through walls after you throw one of them on a hook. This gave me such a good advantage that we had to put a ban on it because it made it far too easy for the killer to find and murder everyone, but I enjoyed it while I lasted.
